I would like to start off by letting you know this is not a data dump class. The subject of History is loaded with valuable information but trying to conquer the vast expanse of the past in its entirety with fewer than 200 days would be inconceivable! It is our goal in this room to sort through the important questions that we, as historians, have about the past. Not only will we utilize the text book to answer these questions, we will also view films, listen to music, analyze images and examine primary source documents in order to investigate the past in an authentic setting. My goal is that you will leave this room as knowledgeable individuals with questioning minds and the ability to scrutinize any and all accepted truths. By questioning the past, you will discover your voice and your values.

"The American Dream can no more remain static than can the American nation.... We cannot any longer take an old approach to world problems. They aren't the same problems. It isn't the same world. We must not adopt the methods of our ancestors; instead, we must emulate that pioneer quality in our ancestors that made them attempt new methods for a New World."

"The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life."
